Creative Endeavors: Hand embroidered onesies

I will post soon on how I did these, but can’t resist sharing first.

The first is for a teeny newborn girl born to friends of ours. I plan to add some girly red embellishment to the sleeves. The second is for a friend whose baby’s gender is yet unknown. I’m working on a third, “Sweet Pea,” also meant for either gender.

They’ve been such fun. Few materials means it’s an easy project to carry with me and easily set out of reach of curious little hands. It’s also small enough that from start to finish each one took about two days, so it’s been very rewarding.

  2. Hi! I stumbled across your blog when I was looking for “How To” information on embroidering cotton onesies. I absoluteley love the “Cutie Pie” onesie and would love to make one for a friend. Can you tell me how you did the work on a stretch knit? Do you put something inside the onesie to stabilize the stitches and keep them from stretching with the onesie fabric? Any advice you have would be SO helpful and much appreciated! Also, are those your own designs or did you find the darling pie pattern somewhere?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from you…I’m certain the recipients of your gifts will be in awe of your work!
