E was to be gone all day Saturday, helping his brother build his house. As a special treat for them (and a sanity-saver for me), he bought a new toy for the girls, one that’s been on my wishlist for awhile: Wedgits.
They’re kind of like blocks, kind of like Tangoes, kind of like geometry and kind of like… well, they’re a toy all their own. Even Doozer likes to play with them, as the way they stack and nest together makes them easier for the younger set, but expands the possibilities of how to build for the older set. I have to confess, the night before we gave them to the kids, E and I opened them up after they were in bed, and we played with them ourselves! And the next day when the kids were playing with them, Poppy watched for about fifteen minutes before jumping in as well. I see our affinity for this toy growing as the kids become capable of more complex building skills, and the many designs in the booklet give plenty of projects to work on.
I also see us buying more in the future, because the pieces are durable but fit very nicely in the deepest recesses of the couch or the furthest reaches under the refrigerator. ![]()
